Arizona EV Incentives: Rebates and Tax Credits for Phoenix Homeowners

When it comes to Arizona EV incentives, there’s good news and bad news. First, the bad news: Arizona is not offering rebates for home EV chargers in 2026. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit program, which covered up to 30% of upgrade costs for EV charging, expired at the end of 2025.

The good news? There are still some Arizona EV incentives in 2026. The challenge, though, is that they change regularly and are often limited.

Does Arizona Offer EV Charger Rebates?

Many homeowners expect Arizona to offer statewide rebates for residential EV charger installations because it has done so in the past. It can be confusing because older information still appears online in some places even though the program is no longer in effect.

Are There Federal EV Incentives?

One of the most important remaining incentive opportunities for homeowners is the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit. If you install an EV charger at home, you may be eligible for a tax credit when you file your taxes. However, the deadline to complete the installation is June 30, 2026, unless it gets extended.

There are several rules to follow, so you will want to discuss your installation needs with an expert to ensure your location meets all requirements.

If you need to replace your electrical panel, there may also be rebates available. You can search the Rewiring America website to see eligibility requirements or other available programs.

Utility Programs That Offer EV Incentives

So, while your state and federal government may not offer widely available rebates or incentives, many of the local utility providers still offer valuable EV-related savings programs.

Salt River Project EV Program

Salt River Project is one of the nation’s largest public power utilities and serves a broad area, including:

  • Most of Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, and Apache Junction
  • Portions of East Phoenix, South Phoenix, and the Arcadia area
  • Parts of Avondale, Glendale, and Peoria.
  • Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, and Guadalupe

SRP currently offers some EV-related incentives for qualifying customers. Homeowners may qualify for assistance of up to $250 to purchase an EV charger, plus a $50 sign-up fee and an annual bill credit.

Arizona Public Service SmartCharge Program

Arizona Public Service provides power for:

  • Most of North Phoenix, portions of West Phoenix, and the downtown core.
  • Buckeye, Surprise, Goodyear, and portions of Peoria and Glendale.
  • Anthem, Cave Creek, and Carefree.
  • Scottsdale (primarily north of Shea Blvd) and parts of El Mirage.

Through its SmartCharge program, you can sign up for a $25 enrollment bonus and $5 monthly bill credits. There may be additional credits available if you share your charging data with APS.

Off-Peak EV Charging Rates

Almost all Arizona utility companies offer special EV charging rates for off-peak charging hours. So, if you charge late at night or overnight, you may get reduced electricity rates compared to daytime charging. This becomes especially important during Arizona summers, when daytime electricity demand increases due to heavy air conditioning use across the Valley.

What Homeowners Should Do Before Installation

Before installing an EV charger, homeowners should take several important steps to maximize available savings. Check directly with your utility company to verify current rebates, enrollment programs, and off-peak charging plans. These offers can change quickly, so if you’re counting on them, make sure they are in place and that you meet the requirements.

Make sure you keep all of your receipts and installation documentation, including invoices, permits, charger information, and electrical upgrade records. These documents may be necessary for tax filings.

Always use professional installation whenever possible. You may not qualify for any Arizona EV incentives in 2026 or in the future if you haven’t had your EV charger installed by a certified technician. Even more importantly, a certified EV charger installer will ensure you comply with local building codes and that your home’s electrical system can support safe charging.
